Carola Esposito Corcione is an Associate Professor at the University of Salento, Department of Innovation Engineering, since January 1, 2022. She has been coordinator of the PhD program in "Materials, Structural Engineering and Nanotechnology" since December 2023, and has served as the Rector's Delegate for Placement and the Alumni Network at UniSalento since November 2025. She coordinates a multidisciplinary, international research group made up of 6 PhD students and 2 research fellows.

The scientific activity coordinated by Professor Esposito Corcione spans both technological and industrial topics — linked to her participation in and leadership of numerous international, national, and regional projects — and basic research topics, often in collaboration with Italian and international research institutions and universities. Her research focuses primarily on the development of innovative, eco-sustainable polymers and nanocomposites for engineering applications such as 3D printing, electronics, sensors, and medicine. This work has resulted in 200 papers published in international journals (h-index = 45, citation count = 5,753), 150 presentations at international conferences, 50 presentations at national conferences, and the filing of two European patent applications (13001868.2) and two Italian patent applications. Since October 2023, she has also been co-founder of an innovative startup, WOMAT (https://womat.it/).
