CHERINE ABDRABBO

Residents March 2023

Cherine Abdrabbo is an Egyptian Italian writer and a visual artist, born in 1994. She works as a teacher assistant at the faculty of fine arts, Alexandria University, Egypt. Her passion for classical paintings and mythological themes in addition to her own experience in art and life inspired her to articulate the aesthetics of time and heritage in a personal vision.

During her time at the residency Cherine Abdrabbo has created works on paper and on canvas, in a syncretism between some classical monuments and figures bathed in waves of tree leaves, this chaotic atmosphere is enhanced by strong, eye-catching colours and the abstraction of some parts of the drawn figure, while she pursues shadows in her drawings and maintains a "semi-theatrical lightning bolt."
