CHIARA BERTIN
Resident of May 2026
Chiara Bertin (b. Milan, Italy) is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Switzerland whose work spans installation, writing, and photography. Her practice investigates how memory is shaped through material processes, lived experience, and overlooked histories, bringing together personal narratives with broader social and ecological concerns.
Her projects take varied forms, including large-scale cyanotype prints on textile, installations using algae and plants, artist books, and photographic series developed through experimental and low-toxic methods. These works often unfold over time, allowing growth, decay, and repetition to become central components of the installation itself.
Bertin holds a Master’s degree in Art in Public Spheres from the École de design et haute école d’art du Valais (édhéa) and a Master’s degree in Graphic Design from the Libera Accademia di Belle Arti, Florence. Currently based in Fribourg, Switzerland, she teaches Visual Arts at HEIA-FR, Haute école d’architecture.
Since 2012, Bertin has exhibited her work internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires (AR), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki (GR), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (BE), the Museum of Art in Valais (CH), and Friart Kunsthalle (CH).
