IRYNA VORONA

Iryna Vorona is a Ukrainian artist, researcher, and PhD in Culture and Arts whose  multidisciplinary practice combines painting, drawing, text, and video. Her work explores  how personal identity is transformed when history enters individual life, tracing the fragile  relationship between memory, displacement, loss, and renewal. Moving between  autobiographical experience and collective memory, she creates visual narratives in which  intimate stories become part of broader historical realities. Writing is an integral part of her  practice, extending the emotional and conceptual space of her images. 

Born in Kyiv, Iryna Vorona graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and  Architecture, where she also completed her doctoral research. Since relocating to Germany in  2023 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, her artistic practice has increasingly  focused on forced migration, belonging, and the possibility of healing after loss. 

Among her recent institutional solo exhibitions are In the Face of War (Kunstmuseum  Wolfsburg, 2025; Kommunale Galerie Berlin, 2026), Healing (St. Michael’s Church,  Braunschweig, 2026) and Life and Love (Künstlerhaus Meinersen, 2025). Her work has also  been presented through exhibitions and artistic projects at institutions across Ukraine,  Europe, and North America, including Alan Wildeman Centre for Creative Arts (Windsor,  Canada), Toplocentrala CCA (Sofia), Forum Gallery (Zagreb), Lavra Gallery (Kyiv).
