LUCIE VAUGEOIS

Lucie Vaugeois is a dance artist with a background in gender studies, political science, and literature, having studied at Sciences Po Paris, the Sorbonne, UC Berkeley, and EHESS. They trained in classical, modern, and contemporary dance at conservatory, at the Heart Point studio in Paris, and later through the Extensions program at CDCN Toulouse. Alongside their career as a performer for various choreographers (Jérôme Brabant, Tilhenn Klapper, Sylvain Huc, Julie Nioche, Nina Vallon), Lucie develops their own work through their company, VIRAGO PROD.

As a choreographer, they explore questions of memory, the body, and its representations, and advocate for a vision of art as a space for rereading, reclaiming, and potentially repairing History. Their work engages in a sensitive dialogue with archives and artistic legacies, which they reactivate through a choreographic language situated at the intersection of eras, aesthetics, genders, and registers. Lucie is supported as an emerging choreographer by Maison des Métallos through the Nouveaux Métallos programme, as well as by the artistic scouting platform Danse Dense.

During their residency, Lucie will work on two ongoing projects: Vally <3 and other angels, a solo centred on the German-Jewish cabaret artist Valeska Gert in interwar Berlin, which will premiere in December 2026 at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers as part of the Danse Dense Festival; and Danseureuses, their forthcoming creation, a danced lecture exploring the social and political history of dance movement in our societies.
