Maristella Martella is a choreographer, dancer and performer of contemporary ethnic dance. In 2001 she became actively involved in the cultural and artistic movement that swept through the world of popular music and dance in southern Italy, founding the Taranta Power School in Bologna with Eugenio Bennato, one of the first Tarantella schools in Italy, and subsequently opening branches in Salento and Paris. From 2004 to the present, she organizes artistic residencies in Italy, Tunisia, Morocco, France, and Egypt. From 2006 to 2015 she was a solo dancer at the "La notte della Taranta" festival and choreographer of the dances for the final concert in the editions directed by Ludovico Einaudi, Goran Bregovic and Giovanni Sollima. In 2018 she conceived the project "Danzare il mito" (Dancing the Myth), a cycle of dance workshops at the Castromediano Museum in Lecce inspired by archaeological collections in collaboration with Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and Il Polo Biblio-Museale di Lecce.

Since 2018 she has been part of "The Magdaline project International network of women in contemporary theatre" network, participating in three major FESTIVALS: Tantidhatri Festival directed by Parvathy Baul in Calcutta, India / Transit Festival directed by Julia Varley (Odin Teatret) in Holstebro, Denmark / Knot Festival in Munich, Germany.
