Nicole Markopoulou is a visual artist and musician born in Athens, Greece, currently based in Iceland. She holds an Integrated Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts (2024) and a degree in Byzantine Medieval Painting (2018). During her studies, she emphasized traditional painting, photography, and scenography, while working in photography and mural hagiography. She has participated in group exhibitions in Athens, including Platforms (Nikos Kessanlis Exhibition Hall, 2021-22) and Amoralite V004 (Romantso, 2023), and was a resident artist at Eaxo Residency in Stavros, Crete (2025). She held a solo exhibition, Fortifications, at Þórsmörk Gallery by Menningarstofa Fjarðabyggðar in Iceland (2025) and participated in the group exhibition Jólasýning at Sláturhúsið Menningarmiðstöð (2025). Her visual work explores hybrid forms and micro-narratives inspired by archetypal characters and mythic structures. Her creative practice focuses on compositions of photographic material and hand-crafted elements combined with digital editing.
