Paola Medici is a sociologist with a soul committed to making visible the lives on the margins and giving voice to those who are often ignored. She works at the NGO GUS-Gruppo Umana Solidarietà "Guido Puletti" and coordinates a SAI project where she handles the reception and care of asylum seekers and political refugees in vulnerable conditions. Her daily work combines the rigor of research with the care of relationships, creating bridges between institutions, territories, and people.

Her professional path is strongly intertwined with activism and the critical study of inequalities. For years she has been dealing with body-related discrimination, with particular attention to fatphobia – a form of systematic oppression that is still too invisible. She explores and denounces the social dynamics that legitimize body shaming, proposing new imaginaries and practices of resistance that center bodily dignity in all its forms.

Between words, practices, and daily struggles, Paola builds a political and human space where reception is not just a service, but a radical gesture of social justice.
